This was one of the coolest sights I've seen on the DM&E, three SD40-2s in run 7 or 8 grind up grade with 101 cars in tow. You could hear this train coming from a long ways away. Here its seen near the top of Stockton Hill, just outside of Lewiston as it leans into the sharpest curve on the hill. |

Ahh, the beautiful valleys and scenery that come with the CP and DM&E lines! Here we see 487 climb up towards Stockton with the CITX 3091 leading the charge. Thankfully the sun cooperated enough to make this shot go as planned too! Where else in MN can you see a trio of SD40-2s running with in scenes like this? This is one of the many reasons why I love the DM&E! |
